デニムとまではいわずとも、味わいを求めてエージングによるフェイド感を育てられるリネンを作りたい。

徐々に色落ちする特殊染色加工を施しています。これは非常に難易度が高い工程で、染色職人の勘に頼らざるを得ない実情があります。その特殊性故に非連続の染色法となります。その為、若干の色ブレが発生する可能性があります。これも味わいとしてご了承いただけたら幸いです。
これは顔料染めなどと違い、初期段階ではほぼ色の変化はありません。経年によって少しづつ変化が現れます。＊インナーや身のまわり品への色移りにはご注意ください。

We wanted to create a linen fabric that—while not quite denim—develops a unique, faded character through aging.

The fabric undergoes a special dyeing process designed to produce a gradual fade over time. This is a highly complex procedure that relies heavily on the intuition of skilled artisans. Due to the nature of this process, the dyeing cannot be performed in a continuous run; consequently, slight variations in color may occur. We hope you will appreciate these nuances as part of the fabric’s unique character.
Unlike pigment dyeing, there is virtually no color change during the initial stage; the transformation appears gradually as the fabric ages. *Please be mindful of potential color transfer to undergarments or personal items.

これまでも何度かリネン素材を用いたパンツを製作していますが、その中でも本作は最も軽くソフトな素材だと思います。昨年のリネンように凄みがあるわけではありません。本作では、軽くても味わい深い表情を作ることに主眼を置いています。素材が持つ魅力を引き出すべく、良い意味で着古したように仕上げるために、パンツを揉み込んで仕上げています。

TAKE&SONS定番のチノパンがリネン素材に置き換わったようなデザインです。リネン特有の縫い目のスリップに対応するべく、特徴的な縫製仕様が新たに追加されています。
比較的スッキリしたシルエットですので使いやすいパンツかと思います。

同じ素材のFADE LINEN SACK JACLETとセットアップで企画されています。

We have produced linen trousers several times in the past, but I believe this particular pair uses the lightest and softest material yet. It doesn’t possess the imposing, rugged character of last year’s linen; instead, the focus here was on creating a rich, nuanced texture despite the fabric’s lightness. To bring out the material’s inherent appeal and achieve a “well-worn” look—in the best sense of the term—the trousers undergo a special kneading process during finishing.

The design essentially reimagines TAKE&SONS’ classic chinos using linen. To address the seam slippage often associated with linen, we have incorporated new, specialized sewing techniques.
With a relatively clean, streamlined silhouette, these trousers are highly versatile.

They are designed to be worn as a matching set with the FADE LINEN SACK JACKET, which is made from the same fabric.

このくらい軽やかなリネンになると私の感度ではスリップが気になるところです。パンツとなればなおさらです。そこで、量産型の洋服としては、おそらく他に類を見ない方法でこの問題にアプローチしています。上写真の裏地のような部分は綿布で、実は単なる裏地にとどまらず、裏打ち布として使用しています。つまり表地と裏打ち布をすべての縫い目で共有することで対策しているのです。少なくとも私は他でこれを見たことがありません。
縫製はとても気を使う作業になります。工場も何度か間違えて縫い直していたことから、この仕様の特殊性が伺えます。

With linen this lightweight, I personally find myself concerned about transparency—especially when it comes to trousers. To address this, the garment employs an approach that is likely unique for mass-produced clothing. The section resembling a lining in the photo above is made of cotton fabric; however, it serves not merely as a lining but as an integrated backing layer. The solution lies in having the outer fabric and the backing layer share every single seam. It is a technique I have never encountered elsewhere.
The sewing process requires meticulous care. The fact that the factory made mistakes and had to redo the stitching on several occasions speaks to the unusual nature of this construction.

腰は通常のスラントポケットですが、本作のように柔らかい素材の場合、座ったりするとポケット口が開き過ぎることが懸念されました。それを防止するために、袋布の前方を本体の前端に固定することで、横方向の生地の動きをブロックします。これは素材に対応したテーラーの技法で、パンツのシルエットを美しく保つための仕掛けです。

While the waist features standard slanted pockets, there was a concern that the pocket openings might gape excessively when sitting—a common issue with the soft fabric used here. To prevent this, the front section of the pocket bag is anchored to the front edge of the garment, effectively blocking lateral fabric movement. This is a tailoring technique adapted to the specific material, designed to maintain the trousers’ beautiful silhouette.

TAKE&SONSのパンツには独自のディテールがあります。それはループの構造にあり、センターバックのみループ上部が固定されておらず、フラシ構造になってるのです。私はこれをフレキシブルループと呼んでいます。

TAKE&SONS trousers feature a unique detail in their belt loop construction: the top of the center-back loop is left unattached, creating a “floating” design. I call this a “flexible loop.”

しゃがんだ時にセンターバックのループは強い力で引っ張られます。その時、ウエストがめくれて下着が見えてしまった経験はございませんか？これを繰り返していくと、最悪の場合はベルトがV字に変形したりもします。この対処法として、フレキシブルループを考案しました。完全とはいかないまでも、かなり症状を緩和させることができました。
しゃがんだ時に最も力のかかるセンターバックのループ上部をパンツのウエストと切り離すことで、ループにかかる力を分散させます。それにより、パンツのウエストは身体に添って無理なく沈み込みますが、上右写真のように腰から離れる（捲れる）ことはありません。この時、着用感としては引っ張られている感覚はありません。反対に立ち上がる時は左右のループが支点となり、沈み込んだパンツのウエストを引き上げてくれるので、パンツのシルエットは持ち上がります。腰まわりもフィットした状態をキープしたままです。

洋服の着用感はジャケットに比べてパンツはあまり問われません。しかしメンズ衣料品でボトムスといえば、基本的にパンツしかなく、最も身に着けてい時間の長いアイテムです。だからこそパンツの細部に拘る必要があると私は考えております。

When you squat, the center-back belt loop is subjected to strong tension. Have you ever experienced your waistband riding up and exposing your underwear in such moments? Repeated strain of this kind can, in the worst-case scenario, cause the belt to deform into a V-shape. To address this issue, I devised the “flexible loop.” While not a perfect solution, it significantly alleviates the problem.
By detaching the top of the center-back loop—where the most force is applied during squatting—from the waistband, the tension is effectively distributed. This allows the waistband to dip naturally with your body’s movement without pulling away or riding up at the back (as shown in the photo on the top right). Consequently, the wearer feels no sensation of being pulled. Conversely, when standing up, the left and right loops act as pivot points, lifting the waistband back into place and maintaining the trousers’ silhouette, all while keeping the fit secure around the waist.

Compared to jackets, trousers are often not scrutinized as closely regarding their fit and feel. However, for men, trousers are essentially the only option for legwear and the item worn for the longest periods. That is precisely why I believe it is crucial to pay meticulous attention to the details of trouser design.

TAKE&SONSのピスポケットは「細玉」で統一されています。どうやってもこの仕様は縫い代が浅くなる関係で、通常は滑脱を恐れてリネンではできません。しかし、先ほどの裏打ちの技法と接着芯で固定することで、これを可能にしています。この裏打ち布は膝下まで入っていますので、パンツの膝が出てくる症状も緩和できると思います。

シンプルなデザインですが、「物としての確かさ」を実現させるための創意工夫が表から見えない所に散りばめられたパンツです。

TAKE&SONS features a consistent “narrow-welt” style for the back pockets. Because this design results in a shallow seam allowance, it is typically avoided with linen fabrics due to the risk of seam slippage. However, we have made it possible by using the aforementioned backing technique combined with fusible interfacing. Since this backing fabric extends down below the knee, it also helps mitigate the issue of the fabric bagging at the knees.

While the design is simple, these trousers incorporate various ingenious details—hidden from view—to ensure genuine quality and structural integrity.
